As many of you have heard, Ning intends to start charging us for our online social network starting in July. It looks like the fee is going to be about $200 per year. That's the bad news. The good news is that we are nearly 1000 members strong now. That's right, if everyone sends in just twenty cents, we've got it covered. The chances of us getting everyone to help are slim though. I'm hoping there are a hundred members who care enough to donate two dollars to keep us going this year.
Come on people, this is how President Obama financed his campaign. Forget about asking a few people for hundreds, all we need is to each send in some small amount to accomplish the same work.
There are other alternatives, but with such a small donation required to maintain our status quo, I thought I should just put my toe in the water and ask. That way nothing has to change from the way it is now. Since we may not get a hundred people, please consider sending in three or four dollars if you can. Anything extra will be held over so that next year, perhaps we can ask for less.
If we do not get enough participation to swing this small fee, our community is going to get a lot smaller. We can have a scaled down community for up to 150 members for $20 per year. We would just have to eighty-six 850 members to get to that number. Because of just two dollars. I'd hate to see that. Please, let me know what you will help us with. I can send you an e-mail invoice by Pay Pal which you can pay with Pay Pal or with plastic, or I can let you know where to mail well concealed cash.
At this point I'm asking for pledges. I don't want to take any money till enough is pledged to swing the annual payment.
